Commission on the Environment and Water Quality- February 15, 2013 7:00 pm

meeting.
CALL TO ORDER: Barry LaRoy called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm
MEMBERS PRESENT: A roll call of members was taken and a quorum was present.

Old / New BUSINESS:

1) Sediment Removal Project, Fish Passage Phase I / II Projects, Sterling Island Project, Sterling State Park Projects, and Marketing/Webpage/Video Documentation projects – LaRoy gave an update of the projects and their status.

2) Motion by Stefanski and second by Micka to send recommendation to Monroe City Council for considering rejoining the River Raisin Watershed Council based on reduced fees & obligations. Motion passed. Chairman Pfund to submit correspondence.

3) Motion by Stefanski and second by Micka to have subcommittee develop 2013 PAC support grant scope, review and submit grant application by March 8, 2013 deadline. Motion passed. Tentative subcommittee: Pfund, Stefanski, Egen, LaRoy, Micka, MDEQ.

4) Discussion on consideration to participate with 5 other AOCs on a GLC Perception Survey and on existing Resilient Monroe Community Planning Project survey efforts. Motion made by Stefanski and second by Egen to advise the GLC that the COTE is not interested in Perception Survey due to existing Resilient Monroe efforts and to appoint Richard Micka as PAC representative to participate in the Resilient Monroe efforts to incorporate proposed survey efforts/goals. Motion passed. Chairman Pfund to submit correspondence.

5) Melanie Foose updated COTE that Fish Survey for related BUIs will be delayed until spring 2014 with results expected in 2015 due to DNAPL issue. Also, she updated COTE that Beach Closing BUI is likely to be removed in the upcoming months.
