Commission on the Environment and Water Quality MINUTES March 13, 2014 7:00 pm

CALL TO ORDER: Barry LaRoy called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm

Motion to accept the meeting minutes from February 13, 2014 by Bonnie Finzel-Doster; second by Richard Micka with revisions. Motion passed.

Old / New BUSINESS:

1) 2013 Great Lake Commission (GLC) PAC Support Grant- Interpretive Sign Grant Modification: Subcommittee Chairman (Egen) presented final draft language to COTE for input along with proposed signage locations @ dams 6, 1, 4, 5 & Waterloo. Input on suggested changes was provided from COTE to Subcommittee. The signs are currently being designed and pricing for building the signs is being completed. Installing will be completed before grant deadline of April 30, 2014. It is planned that the Subcommittee will bring back draft signs to the COTE for the April meeting.

2) 2014 Great Lake Commission (GLC) PAC Support Grant: COTE identified & discussed several grant scope items to submit for the 2014 PAC Support. Motion made by Bonnie Finzel-Doster & seconded by Hal Weakly to completed grant application for scope items discussed and submit grant proposal by the 5pm, March 28, 2014 deadline, Motion passed.

3) Richard Micka updated COTE on the upcoming AOC Conference, IJC correspondence, I-75 Corridor work & Beach Front Communities/Association coordination efforts. Barry LaRoy updated COTE on approval of additional $200,000 request from MDEQ/EPA to complete Phase 2 Fish Passage. Melanie Foose, MDEQ updated COTE on: upcoming AOC workshop (SeaGrant) Lake Erie Fishery-propose to be @ City Hall in April 2014, BUI updates, No EPA decision on DNAPL.
