The City of Monroe Commission on the Environment and Water Quality MINUTES September 10, 2015 7:00 pm
CALL TO ORDER: Dan Stefanski called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm
INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION FROM USEPA:
Stefanski introduced Scott Cieniawski USEPA Sediment Remediation Project Manager for the River Raisin Project. Cieniawski presented an informational power point update on the sediment removal project in the River. He fielded questions from members. His presentation was cable cast and was replayed on a regular schedule on the City Cable TV channel.
A roll call of members was taken and a quorum was established.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion to accept the July 9 was made. The motion had a second and was approved.
AOC COORDINATOR (MDEQ UPDATE)
Melanie Foose (MDEQ) was introduced. She provided the Committee with an update. She expects that the Raisin will become an Area of Recovery, however the MDEQ understands that delisting can only occur after remediation of the NAPL issue.
PROJECT UPDATE
LaRoy updated the Commission on the current status of the Flowering Rush Spraying Program. He explained that notice has sent been to property owners, and first spraying should occur this fall. No action was required.
The 2015 PAC Grant was discussed. No action was required
ITEMS FROM MEMBERS
Richard Micka advised the board that he had represented the Commissioners at the MDOT I-75 reconstruction meetings.
Rafko stated that she is very pleased with the progress that the COTE is making.
